Peer review and evaluation process

Pactum. Revista de Estudios Transdisciplinarios del Conflicto y Cultura de la Paz carries out its editorial processes via the OJS (Open Journal Systems) platform. It selects content through double-blind peer review and does not charge any fees for the submission, review, or publication of content. Authors' manuscripts and reviewers' opinions are submitted through the aforementioned platform to ensure greater transparency and efficiency in the article reception and evaluation processes. Under this system, the workflow for publishable communications is generally as follows:

  1. Submission: The author uploads the manuscript to the OJS along with a commitment letter stating the work's originality and confirming that it is not currently under consideration by any other journal.
  2. Initial Screening: The Editorial Committee verifies the relevance and originality of the work, as well as compliance with the specified formal requirements (typography, length, citations, etc.).
  3. Reviewer Assignment: With the support of the Editorial Board, the Editor assigns two reviewers specializing in the article's core topic. The initial screening and reviewer assignment processes by the Editorial Committee will not exceed four weeks from the submission date in the OJS. During this period, the author will receive an acknowledgment of receipt.
  4. Peer Review: Reviewers access the text through the OJS, record their evaluation in the platform's corresponding form, and issue a verdict of “publishable,” “not publishable,” or “publishable with corrections.” Once the assignment is accepted, reviewers have a maximum of four weeks to complete their evaluation, guided by the “Instructions for Reviewers.”
  5. Final Decision: The entire evaluation process may take between three and six months. Throughout this period, the Editorial Committee will keep the author informed of the progress.

The Editorial Team notifies the author of the review results and continues the editorial process (requested adjustments, copyediting, etc.) until the final version for publication is finalized.

Articles will appear in the issue closest to their approval date, depending on the queue of preceding works, aiming for a wait time of no more than six months following acceptance.
